The Future-owned magazine was given access to Microsoft's new console, its peripherals and the company's strategy for the platform.
Tony Mott, editor of Edge, said: "Our readers have come to expect us to be first with details of new gaming hardware -- we were first with next-generation Xbox specs in issue 148, and we're first again with images of the finished hardware and actual game shots in issue 150."
MTV is to give a global airing to a programme unveiling the console, with the UK showing scheduled for Friday May 13 at 8pm. The programme is hosted by self-confessed gaming fanatic and 'Lord of the Rings' actor Elijah Wood.
Edge will also feature an interview with the producer of the 'Legend of Zelda' series of games, and include a 32-page guide for readers looking to get into the gaming industry.
