A swathe of EC&O (Earls Court and Olympia) events have bucked current market trends and posted significant upturns in visitor figures.

The international exhibition of railway equipment systems and services, Railtex, pulled in 8,257 visitors when it returned for its biennial Earls Court appearance in March. The figure was 22% up on 2007.

In the same month Ecobuild generated a 34% increase on its 2008 attendance resulting in organiser International Business Events announcing plans to extend opening times in 2010 to accommodate the expanding crowds.

And it's not just trade events that are bucking the trend. At Olympia, consumer dance show Move It posted a 13% increase in visitors attending the March show.
