eBay buys European rival

Online auction company eBay.com is buying French-based rival IBazar Group for $103m (£71.5m) in stock, to help drive its international expansion.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Online auction company eBay.com is buying French-based rival IBazar Group for $103m (£71.5m) in stock, to help drive its international expansion.

IBazar has 2.4m registered users in Brazil and seven European countries, including France. eBay currently operates in nine countries outside the US, including France and the UK.

The two companies were in legal dispute during the past year, after eBay sued IBazar over the rights to the www.ebay.fr domain name, which was owned by IBazar.
