EasyJet launches DIY skiing holidays online

Budget airline easyJet has launched a new sub-brand to push its winter range of ski trips and holiday packages.

EasyJet4ski.com is to allow customers to build DIY skiing holidays via a new microsite, designed to complement easyJet and Go's flight-only offerings.

The microsite has been developed in association with accommodation and travel company Up To You (www.uptoyou.com), which was previously known as Beaumont Holidays.

Users will be able to book accommodation such as hotels and apartments and hire ski equipment. They will also be able to arrange transfers and bus services to easyJet and Go's 14 ski-destination airports, including Geneva, Zurich, Lyon, Nice, Milan and Aberdeen.

The aim of the sub-brand is to undercut the price of a tour operator ski package for mid-week breaks. Users will be able to fly out to resorts for around £50 return, inclusive of tax.

Easyjet claims that 250,000 skiers arranged their own holidays last year.

It expects the market to increase by 50 per cent during winter 2002-2003.

A spokeswoman for easyJet said that the company was unlikely to promote the new easyJet4ski.com brand separately from its overall marketing for the easyJet and Go brands.

Last month, easyJet revealed it was building its first business-to-business web site to encourage third-party bookings.
