E4 backs Skins with special MySpace episode

LONDON - E4 is to show a one-off episode of Bristol-based teen drugs and sex drama 'Skins' on MySpace, the first time a television programme has been filmed especially for the site.

The 10-minute episode will be broadcast on the social networking website starting on August 17, ahead of the launch of 'Skins' season one on Channel 4.

Producers are also offering the 55,000 members of the 'Skins' MySpace community, , the chance to be a part of the filming, and to attend a party with some of the cast members after the episode is shot.

It is also looking for a photographer to take pictures of the event and a new DJ to play a set.

Angela Jain, head of E4 said: "'Skins' is a huge hit for E4 and has established a young, dedicated community who engage with the series both on the channel and online. This special will give audiences another unique 'Skins' experience and a taste of what to expect from the hotly anticipated second series."

As part of the campaign, members of the 'Skins' community are encouraged to vamp up their MySpace profiles and add 'Skins' flyers and banners as they bid to be picked to attend the filming and party, which is open to over-18s only.

'Skins', which premiered on E4 in January, will start showing on Channel 4 from August 21. A second series is currently in production and will broadcast next year.
