DVD Review looks to Las Vegas in redesign to increase sales

LONDON - Future Publishing has redesigned its film and TV magazine DVD Review, with the new issue featuring a Las Vegas theme, as it attemptes to reverse a sales decline over the last year.

The redesign includes an enlarged news section and additional space given over to reviews. It has overhauled its review marking system to now give a score for the whole DVD package, rather than separate ones for the main feature and the DVD extras.

It also includes a new section called The Directory, a guide to DVD releases over the next four months, as well as looking back at the best releases from the previous three months.

The first issue of the redesign, which goes on sale on March 30, has a Las Vegas theme to focus on the release of the fifth series of 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', which is based in the Nevada gambling oasis.

The theme is continued with a rundown of Elvis Presley's career through DVD and the issue also includes a free 96-page DVD trivia book.

Cassie Whittell, DVD Review editor, said: "Our new look will drive readers' choice so they can be confident that the discs they buy are the very best available. We want DVD Review readers to be the first to know about new releases, the best TV box sets and the finest special editions currently on sale in the UK or imported from the US."

According to latest ABC figures, DVD Review is down 19.3% year-on-year. It was also down 2.4% on the previous period and now has a circulation of 28,445 copies.
