The weekly entertainment programmes will go live in August and will re-affirm the channel's new-found commitment to in-house production.
The English-anguage channel, which is run by the government-owned Dubai Media Incorporated, made its first foray into in-house production earlier this year with the launch of the nightly Emirates News.
Along with sister channel Dubai TV, Dubai One is focusing on producing relevant local content in a bid to improve the quality of programming in the region, much of which is dominated by low quality shows from Egypt or Western programmes and formats.
The shows called 'Her Say' and 'Out and About', will look at issues facing the UAE and the country's vibrant entertainment industry.
Najla Al Awadhi, deputy CEO of DMI and general manager of Dubai One, said of 'Her Say': "It's a very exciting project because the goal is to bring something that reflects Dubai itself in terms of its diversity and have people talk about the day-to-day issues that people are living with in Dubai, whether it's tolls, fashion, anything you can think of that's of concern."
Dubai One, previously known as One TV, rebranded late last year and placed its emphasis on providing the best Western entertainment alongside quality local programmes.
Although it has made great strides in the last ten months, Dubai One still remains in the shadow of rivals MBC and LBC, both of which also place an emphasis on in-house shows and have a considerably higher share of pan-Arab audiences.
