
The new appointee will be tasked with helping lead alcohol responsibility action and debate on behalf of some of the country's biggest alcohol producers including Carlsberg UK, Diageo and Inbev. The new chair will work alongside the existing Portman Group team, which runs the group's code of practice.
David Poley, chief executive of the Portman Group, said the decision was made by member organisations in a bid to strengthen their self-regulation efforts.
‘Having an independent chair will help us build on our achievements and make an even greater impact with opinion formers,' he added.
