Dreamworks celebrated the launch of its new animated film Home by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Largest Free-Floating Bubble yesterday (19 March).

The film studio enlisted famous bubbleologist Samsam Bubbleman to stage the stunt. Located at Jubilee Gardens, beneath the London Eye, he produced a bubble that measured 23.3 cubic metres.

An adjudicator from Guinness World Records measured the creation using complex 3D measurements and chartered surveyor calculations. Local schoolchildren were on hand to help with measurements, alongside Home character Oh.

The stunt was inspired by another of Home’s characters, Boov, whose technology in the film is based entirely on bubbles. Dreamworks is working with agency Premier PR to stage the record attempt.

Bubbleman said: "I am thrilled to be honoured with my tenth Guinness World Record. It has been my most challenging yet, with a number of crucial elements coming together – the equipment, my top-secret bubble solution, weather conditions and most importantly what I call my ‘inner bubble’.

"I have been inspired by the film Home not just because of its hugely inventive use of bubbles, which are present in almost every scene, but also its incredibly vibrant use of colour."
