Dovetail recruits Saga Publishing marketer as MD

LONDON - Magazine subscriptions marketing and fulfilment company Dovetail has appointed Julian Thorne as managing director.

Thorne will take executive responsibility from interim executive chairman Tom Turcan, who will move on once Thorne arrives in November. Alistair Ramsay will continue his position as non-executive chairman.

Phil Wheeler remains general manager, responsible for running the day-to-day business.

Thorne has been marketing director of Saga Publishing since last August and was a former direct marketing director and circulation director at Dennis Publishing. He is also a past chairman of the PPA subscriptions committee.

Thorne said: "I am looking forward with excitement to leading Dovetail in the next phase of its development. It is a time of great opportunity and challenge for publishers seeking to build profitable direct relationships with customers and to grow their subscriber numbers."

Dovetail is the new name of Galleon CI, which was created in April 2005 as a joint venture between BBC Magazines and Dennis Publishing.
