DoubleClick extends European presence with Falk acquisition

LONDON - DoubleClick, the online ad technology firm, has acquired Falk in a move that will give it a stronger presence in Europe.

Falk is based in Germany and specialises in technology to deliver online ads and marketing management. Thomas Falk, chief executive of Falk, will take on the role of president of DoubleClick EMEA when the deal is finalised. He reports to Ben Regensburger, president of DoubleClick International.

DoubleClick said that the acquisition would give it a new presence in Russia, with the St Petersburg office, and add offices in Dusseldorf and Amsterdam. It already has teams in North America, Europe and Asia to give local customer service to clients.

The deal will see Falk's AdSolution product merged over time with DoubleClick's Dart ad management system, and the best features will be incorporated in future versions.

Regensburger said: "Combining the best of both companies should yield significant benefits to clients in terms of local service and innovation.

"Falk is one of the most innovative local players, illustrated by an impressive client roster. By adding its European engineering hub to our existing hubs in North America and Asia, our commitment to Europe's fast-growing digital industry will be strengthened."

The acquisition is expected to be completed by March 31. Terms were not disclosed.
