Dobson steps up to top sales role at MSN International

LONDON - Chris Dobson has been promoted to the new role of general manager of digital marketing sales and trade marketing for MSN International, taking charge of developing MSN's advertising sales force.

He was previously regional sales director for MSN Europe, Middle East and Africa, a role he held for three years.

In his new role, he heads up the MSN digital marketing sales team, bringing together all of MSN's digital marketing business outside of North America. He now has the most senior sales position in these areas outside North America.

MSN International is a new division unifying all of the MSN business operations outside of North America into one unit. It is headed by Judy Gibbons, corporate vice-president for MSN International.

MSN plans to increase the opportunity for advertisers to promote their companies through widely used services such as Hotmail and MSN Messenger.

"We will be able to help advertisers around the world recognise the potential of digital marketing and the added value of integrated online campaigns through unique digital marketing opportunities, such as those available through Hotmail and MSN Messenger," Dobson said.

Dobson joined MSN in November 2001 at a time when the company was expanding its sales force. He started his career in media sales at Yorkshire Tyne Tees Television and Thames TV, before moving to MTV Networks Europe.

Before joining MSN, Dobson was European business development director at Zenith Media Worldwide, responsible for sales, marketing, PR and training for the European network.
