Globrix will form part of the DMGT media group's umbrella unit, The Digital Property Group (TDPG), whose websites include PrimeLocation.com, FindaProperty.com and FindaNewHome.co.uk.
DMGT is the second major newspaper group to acquire a stake in the company, which was founded by Dan Lee and Ian Parry.
News International previously held a stake in Globrix but sold it back to the founders last year for an undisclosed sum after deciding to exit the online house-hunting sector.
The search engine will remain free to list and DMGT has earmarked a significant investment in Globrix. DMGT added that it will look to extend the brand into new classified markets.
Globrix directs users to agent's websites rather than hosting the property details itself. It charges property professionals and related services for advertising.
