Direct: Bingo campaign targets mothers

The National Bingo Game Association has launched a direct campaign to promote a Mother's Day-themed game as it seeks to boost footfall in bingo clubs.

The 'Mother's Day Mega-Makeover' game, which offers a top prize worth £500,000, is being promoted through point-of-sale material in 500 clubs, ads in the national press and women's titles as well as online work.

The activity, developed by Spinnaker, is part of the organisation's ongoing promotion of the National Bingo Game.

The number of people playing bingo in clubs is expected to be hit hard by the introduction of a ban on smoking on public enclosed spaces in England, from July.

According to the Bingo Association, some clubs in Scotland have reported a 120% downturn in business since the smoking ban came into force there a year ago.
