The directory is the brainchild of Peter Kerwood, marketing director of Altitude London, and journalist Mike Fletcher. They hope the tool will help to turn online conversation into business opportunities.

Fletcher said: "Ensuring you're listed on eventprofsindex.com is a great way to find and follow fellow professionals in the events sector. It is a comprehensive directory of relevant twitter accounts and an important business aid."

Kerwood added: "We are delighted to be able to offer this tool to help the event industry engage with the ever growing number of peers using Twitter."

Kerwood told Event that the directory came to life three years ago, when the industry was known on Twitter as #eventweeps. It has since evolved and relaunches today, the final day of Social Media Week.

The founders are planning to add features to the site, including a leader board of the industry’s most active and best connected users.

Altitude 360 on Monday, providing event professionals with an opportunity to learn more about how to use social media as a business tool.
