Digital: Disney's Pirates ties up with MSN

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has struck a deal with MSN Digital Advertising Solutions to promote Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End across MSN properties.

An online campaign promoting this week's DVD release of the third film in the franchise shows Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) crossing swords with his pirate enemy Davy Jones.

The swordfight creative will run on the MSN home-page. Created by specialist agency Pixel Circus using blue-screen technology, the execution sees the duo break free from the confines of their media units and swashbuckle their way across the page.

The deal, brokered by Carat Digital, incorporates a week-long takeover of the MSN Movies and MSN Entertainment homepages, advertising on Windows Live Messenger, and display ads in Hotmail.
