Excel chief executive Jamie Buchan handed Ascension Eagles director Shara Brice - and 50 of her squad - a cheque for 拢3,000. Based in Newham in London, the team has been official cheerleader to the FA Cup final Cardiff, the UEFA SuperCup, Monaco and the London Marathon. The World Cheerleading Championships took place on 13 April. Diary says, in its best Kirsten Dunst impression: "Bring it on!"

Cheerleading is hardly a British institution. But Excel helped to fund children's charity the Ascension Eagles' trip to Florida to represent Great Britain in the World Cheerleading Championships.
