Imagine the horror at seeing the actor from your latest baby turning up in someone else’s ad at the same time. Lloyd Griffith, a comedian and actor, starred in two ads out last week. He featured in an online and cinema film for the fashion start-up The Chapar by Sir John Hegarty’s The Garage Soho and The Marketing Store’s Carlsberg Mother’s Day ad. Ouch.
Misplaced praise
Well done to The Hub, which collected five gongs at the Marketing Agencies Association’s Best Awards last week. The news was especially well-received by David Marrable, the managing director of the print management company The Hub London, whose phone buzzed with Twitter alerts after the MAA wrongly tagged @thehublondon – rather than @this_is_the_hub – as the winner (pictured, below).
An amicable break-up
Jason Dormieux and Stuart Bowden had a "conscious uncoupling" party to mark the end of their stint as MEC’s UK joint chief executives. "It’s a bit like a reverse best man’s speech," according to Dormieux, who has taken sole charge as Bowden becomes the global chief strategy officer. He told guests, including ITV’s Kelly Williams and Initiative’s Sally Weavers, that Bowden has a tendency to leave piles of clothes in their office. "I think you’ve moved just to get away from the tidy desk policy," Dormieux quipped.
We’re hardly Paxman
BBC Radio 4 recently re-aired Reluctant Persuaders (pictured, below), its sitcom about the worst ad agency in London. In the finale, the fictional shop Hardacres faces its biggest challenge yet: preparing for an interview with a 北京赛车pk10 reporter. On the brink of their 15 minutes of fame, the office lift breaks down and the team get stuck, leaving the reporter to walk away with an even better story. For the record, Diary has never witnessed anything but poise in London’s agencies and can’t imagine who the fearsome journalist would be based on.

Suki Thompson and her team at Oystercatchers celebrating International Women’s Day. They used the same photographer who does all the A-level results day shots for the tabloids.
This is Nils Leonard, Hollie Newton and Darren Bailes at judging for the Creative Circle apparently talking about how they all "would" Al MacCuish. If that’s the case, Bailes’ pose is not comforting.
A rare story of advertising being appreciated – the whisky brand The Macallan has released a special collection that uses 80s and 90s ads for the brand by Nick Salaman and David Holmes as bottle labels.
