Diageo to launch seasonal bar with The Hedonist Project

Diageo has teamed up with The Hedonist Project, the trio behind the UK's first rotating bar concept, to open a winter-themed pop-up coined The Liquor Store & Whisky Parlour.

Working with Daniel Crowther, Tom Finnon and Bruce Lerman - the three Leeds-based bartenders behind the project - Diageo has helped to curate the themed bar, which is set to open at the end of the month.

The Liquor Store & Whisky Parlour will serve more than 60 whiskies by the dram, including Diageo brands such as Johnnie Walker, Haig Club and Buchanan’s. Some bottles will be available to purchase at retail price for those wishing to enjoy a tipple at home.

A series of unique cocktails are also set to comprise the menu, including a Salted Caramel Rusty Nail served with Lagavulin fudge, Boulevardier paired with a side of Campari candy floss, and the Tom & Jerry – a variation of the traditional egg nog beverage.

The bar will open from 8am, serving Scottish-inspired brunch dishes from morning to mid-afternoon and a menu of small plates at night.

Those who visit on a Friday or Saturday can expect in-store whisky tasting sessions, and the space will also host one-off liquor and food pairing evenings led by some of the world’s leading whisky ambassadors.

The Liquor Store & Whisky Parlour will be located at the old Wok On site on Lower Briggate in Leeds. It is The Hedonist Project’s first permanent site, and come March the space will be transformed into an all new spring-inspired pop-up.

The Hedonist Project opened Hoygarth’s Gin Joint, their first seasonal pop-up in spring, meanwhile the Rum Shack enjoyed a three-month residency over the summer.

Crowther said: "We've all witnessed some phenomenal bartenders leave Leeds for London, and they've all gone on to do really well for themselves. We've all lived in this city for the best part of a decade now and it’s safe to say we all love it.

"We're settled here, have great friends and genuinely believe the hospitality scene to be one of the best in the country, so when the opportunity came to open our own place it was a no brainer really. We're working on plans to have some internationally renowned bars to pop-ups - bringing awesome concepts and talent to Leeds, which hopefully will help make our city even better."
