The west London store had recently publicised plans to expand into Russia. It had also reported a 60% growth in its online output and had been nominated by fashion industry magazine Drapers for a best independent online retailer award.
However, Alison Chow, founder of Coco Ribbon, said online sales did not contribute enough for the company to remain buoyant. The retailer is currently entering administration and will assess a number of restructuring options.
The high-end boutique, which opened in 2002, closed its Sloane Street store in 2006. Its streamlined offering included a Notting Hill boutique, an online presence at and a supplier relationship with department stores including Harvey Nichols.
It has been a favourite among celebrities and received regular publicity in the women's glossies.
Coco Ribbon's panty postman service received particular coverage. For £58 the boutique would post two new pairs of knickers to the customer's door every three months.
