Design4Retail creates Alien perfume display at Selfridges

LONDON - Retail design agency Design4Retail has created a promotional window display for the launch of Thierry Mugler's Alien Eau Luminescente perfume at Selfridges' Oxford Street store.

Design4Retail worked with fashion designer Thierry Mugler's team to build and install a window display for the launch of this spring fragrance from .

formed a partnership with Clarins in 1997, the most well-known of his fragrances being Angel.

The display showcases a giant replica fragrance bottle set within a subtly textured paper "crater" to reflect the character of the perfume, which is described as a "light, fresh, yet typically complex layered fragrance".

Lights pulsate through the layered display to catch the attention of passers by.

The display was specially created to support the brand launch and to communicate the qualities of the fragrance.

It also supports Selfridges' own brief to consider working within the store's in-house seasonal theme using paper throughout displays.

Design4Retail was asked to build and install an in-store promotional area based on the same concept within the store's main fragrance and beauty hall.

Jude Morgan, assistant creative concepts manager at , said: "The Thierry Mugler Alien window was a great response to our 'paper' brief. The window represented both the brand and the Selfridges scheme brilliantly, resulting in a great beauty window which received an excellent response."

Jon Vinall, director at Design4Retail, said: "We were very pleased to have been chosen to work on this project based on our proven design experience in retail merchandising for the fragrance and beauty sectors, our cost effectiveness and our ability to work within a short three-week timeframe to deliver the brief to full effect in such a prestigious store."
