Design Bridge hires former Wrap project director Hughes

LONDON - Design Bridge is to increase its sustainability credentials by hiring Helen Hughes, the former Wrap project director, as client director.

Wrap is the body that campaigns for better recyling of packaging, as well as encouraging retailers to cut down on the amount of packaging they use on products.

At Wrap, Hughes was packaging design adviser and project manager in the retail innovation team, where she helped brands and FMCG owners deliver against sustainability targets, especially household waste reduction.

Design Bridge said that her appointment emphasised the need for brand owners and retailers to develop sustainable brands.

Nick Verebelyi, who is head of 3D structural branding and packaging at Design Bridge, said: "We recognise that this important aspect of brand design is increasingly reliant on expert knowledge in a range of interrelated specialist areas such as regulatory, new packaging materials and technologies, supply chain and chain of custody, and retailer operations."

Clients of Design Bridge include The Green Transport Company, the school bus service, and Finnish vodka Koskenkorva.
