Department of Health calls pitch for anti-smoking campaign

LONDON - The Department of Health is searching for a direct marketing shop to create work to support a hard-hitting new above-the-line initiative aimed at young smokers.

An NHS-branded campaign, created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, will target men and women in their late teens to mid-20s, alerting them to the lesser-known dangers of smoking, including the effect on sexual performance.

The DoH has drawn up a shortlist of DM agencies through the AAR, believed to include Claydon Heeley Jones Mason, Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel and Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw.

The campaign is the latest in a series of advertising initiatives. For the past year, the DoH has been running AMV-produced TV spots featuring testimonies from victims of tobacco-related illnesses.
