Spruce joined De Boer in 2003 as commercial director and became UK managing director in 2005.
In his new role he will focus on developing business opportunities around the world with emphasis on the Middle East, Scandinavia and Spain. He will also continue to lead the UK operation.
Spruce will remain based at De Boer’s UK headquarters in Northamptonshire and will travel to international centres including Spain and Qatar as well as De Boer’s corporate headquarters at Alkmaar, Holland.
He said: "We are already working on major and exciting projects in Spain and the Middle East and I believe there is fantastic scope to grow our business in these key areas. Vastly improved communication allows you to be more fluid these days: you don’t need to be tied to a single building anymore. We can now take a global view of our entire business to identify where support and resources are needed most, and move them from one country to another, as and when required."
In his decade ad De Boer, Spruce has added long-term rental to De Boer’s business which previously focused on short-term structure hire. He oversaw work for London 2012 last year and under his leadership De Boer has provided structures to long-term clients including the Ryder Cup, the Chelsea Flower Show and Farnborough International Air Show.
