Bowley quit cinema sales house DCM in January under unclear circumstances. At the time, DCM would not comment on his departure.
Bowley's exit came one week before it was announced that DCM's sales controller, Sufia von Bismarck, had been poached by Nick Bampton to boost his commercial team at Channel 5. Von Bismarck is currently working out her notice.
Jeremy Playle, sales director at DCM, is heading up the company in the absence of a managing director. Playle, who has been with DCM and its forerunner Carlton Screen Advertising for 10 years, replaced Gemma Atkinson, who left DCM in late 2009 after just 15 months in the role.
Playle said: "The senior team at DCM are pushing forward with the strategy put in place last year."
Lilly, vice-president of business affairs at Cineworld Cinemas, has been asked to "support" the management team until a permanent replacement for Bowley is found.
Lilly, who will not have a client-facing role, has held a position on the DCM board since the company was established in 2008, and was directly involved in setting up the business.
Cineworld Group plc and Odeon Cinemas Ltd acquired the sales house in a joint venture in 2008, renaming it DCM and to lead the business.
Bowley was instrumental in raising the profile of the newly formed sales house and , worth about 20% of the total cinema market.
According to the company, Digital Cinema Media now has an 80% share of the cinema advertising market through exhibitors including Odeon, Cineworld, Vue, Picturehouse, IMax, and many Independent cinemas.
