David Ford to head up Sky News Radio

LONDON - BSkyB has appointed David Ford as managing director of its Sky News Radio station.

Ford joined Sky in 2004 as executive producer on Sky Sports News. He was previously at BBC Television, where he worked in a variety of editorial roles including producer for the 'Six O'Clock News' and editor of the BBC One sports magazine 'In the Know'. Earlier in his career ,he worked for BBC Radio Leeds and Five Live.

Sky News Radio will launch on national DAB radio when the 4DigitalGroup multiplex is up and running next year.

It is expected to launch before this on AM radio in London. The station is a joint venture between Sky and Global Radio, which will, as part of the agreement, will rebrand its LBC News AM station as Sky News Radio to coincide with the launch.

Andy Ivy, Sky News Radio head, will continue running its syndication service providing news to more than 60 stations, including Virgin Radio and TalkSport.
