Database segmentation to aid Home Service cross-sell

LONDON – Home emergency assistance company Home Service is to improve its marketing targeting after appointing GB Group to refine its customer database.

GB Group is to help Home Service define which of its 3.5m policyholders have gas-powered heating and which do not to help cross-sell relevant cover. GB will use its data sources to add gas flags to relevant customers.

Patrick O'Donnell, data analysis manager at Home Service, said: "While we can be sure that the majority of UK residents have an electricity supply, many rural households use oil-fired heating or solid fuel. Apartments and new builds are also increasingly using electric heating appliances.

He added that GB Group's data will also help Home Service to contact customers without gas with other relevant products that it offers. These include electrical wiring cover, plumbing and drainage insurance and Home Service's householders' accident plan.
