D'Arcy set for Heineken as Lowes dumped

NEW YORK - Lowe & Partners looks likely to watch its £35m Heineken business go the same way as its former creative chief Lee Garfinkel, as D'Arcy looks set to win the award-winning account.

Garfinkel took up the chief creative officer and president post at D'Arcy in August last year. His departure came as a serious blow to Lowes, because it was Garfinkel who helped create award-winning ads for Heineken, including the "It's all about the beer" campaign.

It is reported that another Lowe executive, the Heineken worldwide account director Michael Silver, is also likely to join D'Arcy. However, legal problems could arise as both men are likely to have signed non-poaching clauses.

Lowe has had the global account for Interbrew-owned Heineken since 1998. It is not known how the review will affect the UK agency arrangements.
