'Harry Hill's TV Burp' put ITV1 on top with 5.6m and a 26% share, outdoing the first half-hour of 'The One and Only'. Dinosaur adventures series 'Primeval' kept up the ITV1 audience at 7pm-8pm with 5.7m and a 24.8% share, although slightly more watched the later stages of the BBC talent show.
Viewers deserted ITV1's new 9pm-10pm offering, 'Thank God You're Here', an improvisational comedy show which involved Paul Merton and guests including Fern Britton and Ben Miller.
It began with 4.4m viewers, but by the next quarter hour only 2.9m were still watching and it finished with 2.5m. Its average figures were 2.9m viewers and a 12.3% share.
The channel pulled back with a new series of 'Dancing on Ice' on Sunday, which attracted 8.9m and peaked at 9.9m between 5.45pm and 7.45pm. 35.8% of the audience watched.
TV presenter Sarah Greene was the first celebrity to be dropped with Gareth Gates, Suzanne Shaw, Samantha Mumba, Linda Lusardi, and Greg Rusedski among the nine surviving. The results show at 8.45pm-9.15pm brought in 7.7m and a 21.2% share.
'Heartbeat', with 7.7m viewers, outperformed BBC One's new costume drama 'Lark Rise to Candleford', while Stephen Fry drama 'Kingdom' later attracted 5.4m.
