Daily Record launches afternoon commuter edition

Trinity Mirror's Daily Record is to launch an afternoon commuter edition priced 15p, which will be distributed in the centre of Glasgow from 28 August. It will feature abridged versions of the following day's news.

Meanwhile, the Glasgow Evening Times, part of the US-owned Newsquest group, is believed to be retaliating by changing its last edition to a 15p version.
It is believed that the cover price of the Record's pm version will be redeemable upon purchase of the next day's morning paper. The publisher hopes that this will boost sales of the Record's regular edition.
This follows the news that The Scottish Sun has overtaken the Daily Record in the ABCs for the first time. The Sun sold an average of 393,953 copies a day in July, 9,575 more copies than the Record's 384,378.
Both titles have been involved in a series of promotions.
The Sun has been on sale for 10p across Scotland, while the Record has run a voucher system of discounts.
