Daglish promoted as GCap restructures senior sales team

LONDON - GCap Media has restructured its sales operation at a senior level in response to client requests for a more effective structure at the radio network.

Simon Daglish, national sales director at GCap, takes the expanded remit of national sales director taking responsibility across the agency sales, sponsorship and promotion, commercial marketing and client development departments, and also retaining responsibility for Classic FM.

Daglish, a former sales director at Classic FM, will now take responsibility for driving "demand across the GCap Media portfolio, taking control of ideas, pitching solutions, programming collaboration and client service", according to the radio network.

John McGeough, group sales director, will now become trading and business development director and will focus on developing GCap's trading model in order to win new business. He will also take responsibility for promoting the industry as a whole on behalf of the largest radio network in the UK.

McGeough will look after trading strategy, business development and network sales, identifying new ways of trading more efficiently for GCap Media and its customer base.

Daglish, McGeough and Colette Lister, group trading and operations director at GCap Media, will form a senior executive team reporting into commercial director Duncan George.

George said: "Commercial radio has a great future which can only be enhanced by consumer take up of new platforms. GCap Media itself has a great proposition with fantastic brands and a 16m weekly audience, who are increasingly engaging across our multi-platform opportunities.

"Our advertiser proposition is one of the strongest in the media market place and this reorganisation of our senior talent can only enhance that."

Last month, GCap Media posted a slump in underlying pre-tax profits of 40% to £22.2m for the year ending March 31, following a decline in the advertising market and the revamping of Capital FM.
