Customer publishing veterans launch own agency

LONDON – Three former directors of contract publisher Just, including the client services and creative directors, have launched their own contract publishing agency Sunday.

Toby Smeeton, the client services director at Just until May, has taken the role of managing director. Matt Beavan, the creative director at Just until February, has taken the role of editorial and creative director.

They are joined by Christopher Lee, who was chief operating officer at MRM Partners, which Just operates out of, until he left in January. He takes on the role of finance director at Sunday.

Smeeton, who oversaw the British Gas, Goldfish, Lexus, Microsoft, Miller Homes and Toyota accounts, said: "The fact that we're independent, specialist and passionate about what we do will appeal to companies tired of being treated as just another account."

The three have 35 years' experience in customer magazines between them. Beaven has edited customer and staff magazines for Alliance & Leicester, Goldfish, Lloyds TSB, Microsoft, ITV Digital, Orange, RAC and Toyota during 10 years at Just, formerly TPD before it was sold to Interpublic in 2001.

"Great creative is a given in our market; a truly integrated approach to customer magazines is not," Smeeton said.
