According to reports, billionaire Chinese developer Ni Zhaoxing, who owns ZhongRong Holdings, wants to copy the plate-glass building in which to stage exhibitions and events.

The palace was built for the Great Exhibition of 1851, and designed by Sir Joseph Paxton in London’s Crystal Palace Park.

The building, originally built in Hyde Park, burnt down in 1936.

According to Property Week, ZhongRong is in discussions to develop the project, and aims to submit a planning application by the end of 2013.
