Creative Bright duo go to Cannes to represent UK in ad challenge

LONDON - An art director and copywriter from Bright have fought off competition from creative teams at around 30 British agencies to represent the UK in the 'Young Creative' competition at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival on June 18.

Ginnette Reshamwala and copywriter Ben Stainley were asked to come up with a script for a 60-second cinema commercial for Turkey Twizzlers.

The competition, sponsored by Pearl & Dean, was judged by Euro RSCG cirector of creativity Gerry Moira, DDB London creative director Will Awrdy, and Hooper Galton creative director Martin Galton.

The pair are set to compete against teams from more than 30 countries to create a print ad in just 24 hours.

Reshamwala began her advertising career with a few weeks of work experience at Cuba UK, resulting in two years as junior art director working on accounts such as the History Channel, All Nippon Airlines and the BBC. She joined Bright in 2003.

Stainley started his career in Aorta Advertising in Sydney in early 2000, working on clients like Sun Microsystems, Hitachi and WD-40, before the company became Amba Communications where he became a resident copywriter.

He then came to the UK where he quickly became a member of the Bright team.

"It's very exciting being part of an agency that is really pushing boundaries and going places. Bright has restored my faith in the belief that first-class creative work can deliver first-class results," he said.

"We're really excited about going and giving it our best shot. Plus Ben can't wait to get in his Speedos, " Reshamwala added.

Separately, all proceeds from this year's Brit Party, to be held on Friday June 24 at Cannes, will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. The event, a regular happening at the Cannes festival, takes place at La Croisette and gives Brits the chance to experience a bit of Soho on the French Riviera.
