The event will be marked with celebrations including a Grand Parade of Athletes and a Great Games Party at the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre.
In Liverpool alone, Merseytravel, Merseyrail, Jackson & Canter, Riverside Group, Typhoo Tea, ShopDirect, Unilever, QVC and Jaguar Land Rover have signed up to compete.
"We have been delighted with the quality of venues available to us here in Liverpool - the facilities are first-rate and in close proximity - we are confident that the participants will thoroughly enjoy their experience," said games director Ben Sedgemore.
