Moore has accused pay-per-view channel In Demand of breaking a contract in cancelling the show, and has alleged the decision was due to Republican strong-arming.
Moore said: "We've informed [In Demand] of its legal responsibility and we informed it that every corporate executive that has attempted to prohibit Americans from seeing this film has failed."
In Demand said it made the decision because of "legitimate business and legal concerns" and that any legal action by Moore would be "entirely baseless and groundless".
The November 1 screening was to be accompanied by interviews conducted by Moore with politically active celebrities.
The Democrat candidate John Kerry is the subject of a documentary to be screened by the conservative Sinclair Broadcast Group. The documentary, 'Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal', is to be aired in prime time before the election and will focus on Kerry's anti-Vietnam War activities.
Sinclair is currently the focus of a boycott campaign by pro-Kerry supporters, who are contacting advertisers on the broadcaster and urging them to pull their ads, a move that is reportedly meeting with some success.
