Conservatives could relax rules on product placement

LONDON - Product placement rules could be relaxed under a future Conservative government.

Conservatives could relax rules on product placement

According to one person involved in the party's policy making, quoted in the Financial Times, ‘ITV is in a fight for its life and there is a very strong argument for doing anything that will allow it, and other commercial television companies to compete.'

They also said that the party would be inclined to allow commercial TV channels to include more advertising and have more control over how they use their airtime.

Product placement could bring in as much as £50m for ITV, according to analysts. Endemol said it could be worth an additional £100m to the industry.
