Conservative Party targets younger voters with Spotify ad campaign

LONDON - The Conservative Party is to run an ad campaign next week on Spotify in a bid to target younger voters.

Conservative Party targets younger voters with Spotify ad campaign

The move represents the first time a UK political party has advertised on the peer-to-peer music streaming service.

Voiced by party chairman Eric Pickles, the ad focuses on the issue of debt and informs listeners that they will be able to vote for the party in a general election in a few months time. It was produced in conjunction with the party's ad agency Euro RSCG London.

A spokeswoman said: ‘Political parties can't advertise on TV or radio in the UK outside of election broadcasts, so this represents an interesting new area for us to take our message out to younger voters.'

She added that the ability of the service to reach listeners by postcode meant that the Tories may continue to use Spotify as the general election gets closer, to deliver local messages to voters.
