Condé Nast is fighting to stop the continuing slide in circulation of its men's "fashion bible" GQ by announcing a major new investment in the magazine.
An extra £300,000 will be ploughed into the title next year starting with the January edition.
Condé Nast Publishing director Peter Stuart said advertising for the year was expected to be down and he was expecting to see a further fall in the next ABC circulation figures, following the nine per cent fall to 127,518 for the six months to the end of June.
The prediction comes despite a recent price cut from £3.20 to £3.
The new investment will see the addition of an extra 20 editorial pages, the arrival of celebrity columnists, including Robbie Williams and Peter Mandelson. Other writers will be joining, including Arena's Danny Kelly.
Stuart said: "We've decided to invest more in our product at a time when others are cutting back."
He added that the recent experiment with an A5 version of the magazine similar to Glamour, piloted in the north of England and Scotland, had failed and was to be abandoned.
