Carr said: "I literally can't believe my luck -- torturing Americans should not only be easy, but a pleasure."
Comedy Central said: "We are huge fans of Jimmy's dry, cutting style... he was the obvious choice. We could have spent months trying to cast someone else but they wouldn't have been as funny as the original."
Carr follows in the footsteps of other Channel 4 exports. Comedy Central has just come to the end of its run of 'The Graham Norton Effect'.
The Irish comic and talk show host has enjoyed great success with his US programme -- so much so that Norton said he would rather stay in America to film a second series than return to fulfil his 拢3.5m contract with the BBC.
However, it has been confirmed that Norton will return to the UK to shoot his BBC pilot.
