Columbia TriStar UK plans online ad blitz

Columbia TriStar UK, the film distributor, is using disruptive ads and Flash-based banners in a major online campaign for the cinema release of martial arts film The One.

A guerrilla ad featuring a spoof error message will appear on sites including channel4.com, FHM.com, Empire Online and Kerrang.com, seeming to close down a user's PC.

A series of action shots from the film will then appear. Users can click through from these - and a series of Flash-based banners - to a promotional site (www.theone-themovie.co.uk).

Online creative for the campaign and web site was developed by Haygarth Direct, while media was handled by Zenith Interactive Solutions. The interactive activity forms part of a cross-media strategy that will gather pace running up to the film's release on 12 April.

Brooke Hunter, director at Haygarth Direct, said an email campaign targeting 15- to 24-year-old males from Columbia TriStar's database will feature a streamed video of the movie's trailer, which begins as soon as the email is opened.
