Coldplay will perform a set of their most iconic music alongside a cast of almost 2,000 performers at the ‘Festival of Flame’ closing ceremony on 9 September in the Olympic Stadium. The ceremony is expected to be broadcast to an estimated audience of 750 million people worldwide.

With the Paralympic Games only 100 days away, the White Cliffs of Dover were illuminated by a projection of a giant Agitos – the Paralympic symbol – to celebrate the Games.

More than one million Paralympic tickets were also released at 11am today, after a record one million were sold last year.

In a move exclusive to the Paralymics, day pass tickets are on sale, allowing the holder to see up to five sports in the Olympic Park or Excel London.

Seb Coe, chair of Locog, said Coldplay would help to celebrate not only the end of the Paralympics but "the end of a seven year journey" following London’s successful bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

He added: "I can guarantee that whatever ticket you decide to go for that Paralympic sport will leave a deep and lasting impression on you. The athletes involved in the Paralympic Games are incredible sportsmen and women and I urge everyone to take this chance to be there and to form memories that will last a lifetime."
