COI receives eight nominations in Radio Advertising Awards

The Central Office of Information is leading the way in the Radio Advertising Awards shortlist with eight nominations, followed by the Metropolitan Police, Windows 7 and Snickers, which each have two.

The annual awards, held by the Radio Advertising Bureau and supported by Haymarket Brand Media, aim to recognise best practice in advertising on UK commercial radio, in terms of both creativity and planning.

The COI’s drug information service Frank, and creative agency Mother, have five nominations, including the award for best writing and direction, best use of radio to drive awareness, and best campaign.

The Department of Health’s Smokefree campaign, entered by creative agency MCBD and media agency MEC, has three nominations, including best campaign, best use of radio in a multimedia campaign and best writing and direction.

The Metropolitan Police, entered by MediaCom and AMV BBDO, Windows 7, entered by UM and Global Radio, and Snickers, entered by AMV BBDO and MediaCom, received two nominations each.

Simon Redican, managing director at the RAB, said: "The record number of entries we received demonstrates radio’s continuing importance on client marketing plans and, following our first market share growth in five years, is further testament to the renewed vibrancy of the sector."

The result of the £1m Aerials Creative Challenge and the best campaign by a charity organisation will be announced on the night of the awards, as will the media and creative agency of the year.
