Cobra Beer to sponsor the BAFTAs

LONDON - Cobra Beer has built on its association with the UK film industry by signing up to become the official beer to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

Cobra Beer to sponsor the BAFTAs

Cobra will be the exclusive beer available at many BAFTA events in 2009 including the Orange British Academy Film Awards and the British Academy Television Awards.

The academy's showpiece event - the Orange British Academy Film Awards take place on 8 February and is to be hosted by the BBC's Jonathan Ross.

Will Ghali, marketing director of Cobra Beer, said: ‘Our partnership serves to further enhance our credibility as a supporter of the creative arts. This also gives us a great opportunity to put our beer into the hands of our target consumers at premium events.'

Cobra's alliance with BAFTA follows it reaching a similar agreement with the British Film Institute (BFI) last year, which includes sponsorship of all major film festivals - most notably The Times BFI London Film Festival.  Cobra also has a 12-month exclusive contract as the ‘Chosen Beer' of the Curzon cinema chain.
