CNN named top news channel for Europe's business elite

LONDON - Almost one third of viewers have named CNN as the most important channel for keeping them informed of world news and events, 1.2m viewers ahead of its closest rival.

According to figures from the annual Europe 2004 survey, 30.4% of people preferred CNN for news. BBC Worldwide came in second with 12.3%, while Euronews managed 4.7% and CNBC trailed behind with 0.8%.

The broadcaster has retained its reputation for breaking news at 42.9%, compared with nearest challenger BBC World's 8.8%.

Jonathan Davies, senior vice-president of CNN, added: "We have reported a year-on-year revenue increase of 30%, which is a good indicator that clients know we can deliver on innovation and accountability."
