CNBC hires EMEA digital director

Business news channel CNBC has appointed Torsten de Riese as digital director for the EMEA region.

De Riese will be responsible for leading syndication deals for online and mobile, developing and monetising CNBC products, and will also help extend the channel’s reach in EMEA.

He will report to Justine Powell, vice-president of distribution EMEA, and Anthony Lilleyman, CFO and VP business development EMEA.  

De Riese joins from Guardian News and Media, where he was mobile business manager. He led the Guardian’s mobile programming and introduced its iPhone and iPad apps and mobile site.

Before this role at The Guardian, he worked in the content sales division and launched the Guardian and Observer Archive and the Arabic News Service.
