
The Gatwick ads, designed by Naked, will be displayed on two Mega 6 portrait sites on the 22 metre-high tower. A spokesman for Clear Channel said each achieve 1.6 million impacts every two weeks.
The Gatwick Airport campaign, planned and bought by WPP out-of-home communications agency Kinetic and WPP media agency Mindshare, is designed to promote Gatwick as a destination as well as a transport hub.
Jim Vander Meersch, client director at Mindshare, said: "Generating real standout is paramount within this competitive market and we're delighted that London Gatwick Airport is the first advertiser to feature on such a premium site."
In addition to the new Halo tower Gatwick ads will run on various outdoor sites around London and the surrounding counties in addition to radio spots and ads in the London Evening Standard.
The Gatwick creatives use taglines such as "Airport shopping just got better", "Be our guest not our passenger" and "It’s time for a truly welcome departure".
The A3 Halo Tower at Shannon's Corner is Clear Channel’s fifth tower location in London alongdside the M4 Tower, the Hammersmith Tower, the Westway Tower and the North London Tower.
