Classic FM signs up Benecol as sponsor

LONDON - GCap Media’s Classic FM has signed a seven-figure, one-year sponsorship deal with diet food outfit Benecol.

Starting later this month, Benecol will sponsor the station’s Weekday Requests Show, which is on air during weekdays between 1pm and 4pm and Saturdays between midday and 2pm.

The promotion will include trails, credits and online activity.

During the campaign, the show, which is made up of dedications and requests from listeners, will include the tagline: “Take control of your cholesterol with Benecol”.

The line plays on the invitation to the listener to control the music that the station plays.

According to the latest Rajars,  Classic FM’s requests show has an audience of 2.6 million listeners.

The Benecol deal, conceived and negotiated by Laura Brown, communications manager at Carat Sponsorship, and Louise Bennett, Classic FM account manager, follows a successful partnership between the two companies last year.
