Dawe arrives in the summer to replace Steve Parkinson, who was poached by Emap in March to become its national brand director. However, Parkinson's additional role as Chrysalis' marketing director will not be taken up by Dawe.
Chrysalis said that Dawe's experience of interactivity from his time at Sky and Open, Sky's old interactive platform, would be important in the development of Heart's digital activity.
Dawe joined Sky Networks in April 2001 as head of marketing and secured a promotion to director of marketing. He was responsible for the repositioning of Sky One, bringing in new series including 'Nip/Tuck' and '24'.
He worked for Open from May 2000 to April 2001 and was head of brand marketing during his time there. Prior to this, he was marketing manager for drama and film at Channel 4 from 1998 to 2000.
"Heart is the definitive challenger brand and in the last decade has changed the face of radio. I'm very excited about joining the Heart team and building on their success as we face the digital future," Dawe said.
Dawe takes control with Heart on top of the London market in the latest radio listening figures. However, the current downturn in radio advertising recently led Chrysalis to predict that its full-year radio revenues to August 2005 could drop 5%-6%.
