In a new slot from 6am-9am Asha, who has had a career as one of the leading lights of the urban music scene, will present the show with current presenter Martin Jay. The new show promises to wake up Londoners with "three hours of fun, local news and the best tunes".
Asha started her career on Choice FM where she got her first break in radio. She has interviewed the likes of Alicia Keys, Ms Dynamite and Missy Elliott.
Ivor Etienne, programme controller at Choice FM, said: "With new owners, we've got a clean sheet of paper to attract even more listeners to the station and to bring in some new appeal to our female listeners and connect with guys too."
Meanwhile writer, broadcaster and comedienne Angie Le Mar is to be the new presenter of a Saturday morning discussion show. The show's format will remain a mix of music, topical issues and listener debate.
The show broadcasts from March 27.
Capital Radio took over the station earlier this month in a deal worth £15m. The programme changes come amid listener fears that output of Europe's oldest urban music station may become more mainstream and less representative of the black community.
Choice FM was established in Brixton 14 years ago and offers listeners music of black origin, including reggae, hip hop and garage.
Graham Bryce has become Choice FM's new managing director, in addition to holding the same position at new-music station Xfm. He told the Financial Times Creative Business supplement: "We can categorically say we are not going to be like Kiss FM; we are not going to play Rachel Stevens."
